Orlando Magic Youth Foundation Continues to ‘Grow’; Changes name and restructures focus areas
Orlando, Fla. – Over the last 20 years the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation has helped to seed, water and nurture many organizations in Central Florida. The OMYF is announcing a name change to the Orlando Magic Youth Fund and to unveil the new name, each community partner was sent a seedling of a live Evergreen Tree to plant. The seedling is a symbol of the community growth the OMYF anticipates in the years ahead.
The OMYF logo has undergone a change as well with new colors to better reflect the Magic brand. After much research, the fund will restructure its focus areas to better serve the community and make a greater impact in education (literacy); the arts; and health and wellness, specifically nutrition and exercise.
The Orlando Magic Youth Fund was renamed to align the brand with the other fund partners of the Foundation. The OMYF is a fund of the McCormick Foundation, which matches donations and event net proceeds at fifty cents on every dollar raised by the OMYF.
Each community partner who received the seedling was asked to plant the Evergreen at their place of business or in the community to show the strength of working together toward a common goal of lending a hand to those who are struggling.
OMYF focuses on helping children in Central Florida realize their full potential, especially those most at risk, by supporting programs and partnerships that empower families and change lives. Since inception, nearly $14 million has been granted through OMYF, a fund of the McCormick Foundation, to local nonprofit organizations.
