  • OVERVIEW
The regular season hasn't tipped off yet, but Cuttino Mobley has already made his presence felt in Los Angeles. A sharp-shooting scoring machine, Mobley has been extremely vocal with his new team and their chances this season. "I'm not one to talk. I just play," Mobley says. "I didn't come here to lose, I know that. I knew this team could be good. Everybody plays hard, that's what I like." At the Clippers' Training Camp in Santa Barbara this October, he and fellow new addition Sam Cassell set a veteran precedent by refusing water breaks and encouraging their new teammates in each drill. The effect was electric, as even fellow veterans like forward Elton Brand gushed about the impact of their teammate. "From the first day working out with us, [Cuttino] was making sure guys were in the right spot, doing what they should be doing and voicing his opinions," said Brand. "He wants to be here and help build up this team, which wasn't the way it was in the past, and that can only help get rid of that stigma." Losing isn’t in Mobley’s game plan, and with a multi-year deal set with the Clippers, look for Cuttino to bring a new fire to STAPLES Center this season.

THE WORD FROM THE VOICE OF THE CLIPPERS
Legendary broadcaster Ralph Lawler checks in with his preseason player predictions:
"The Clippers were dead last in 3PT field goals made last season. Here's the remedy : "Cat" was the league's 3rd most accurate long-range bomber in 2004-05. He'll stretch the court for the Clippers' post players. A major addition."

    FANTASY OUTLOOK
With the firepower of Cassell, Maggette and Brand around him, some pundits have questioned whether Mobley will get enough shots to make a roto impact this year. However, if Mobley's preseason is any indication---he's poised for a big fantasy year. He's currently third on the team in scoring, second in assists and shooting 57.9% from 3PT land and 90% from the free throw line. While we concur that his scoring may drop from last season, we feel his overall numbers (and fantasy value) will increase in 2005-06.
