    • OVERVIEW
    Few players prepare for an NBA season like Corey Maggette. His dilligent work each offseason is the primary reason why the swingman has yet to have an off-season. Thanks to a strict summer workout regime, Corey has managed to improve all areas of his game each season and has emerged as one of the NBA's top scoring threats. Yet despite all his individual accolades, Maggette is still a player with a postseason perspective. "Bringing [Sam Cassell and Cuttino Mobley] in, and just the core that we have, I'm pretty excited about what's going to happen this year," he said this preseason. "Nothing less than the playoffs." With Maggette running the lanes and slicing through defenses, look for a wide-open attack from the Clippers this season and an improvement in the category Corey cares most about: wins.

    "I don't know if he can improve his stats again this season--for the 6th-straight year--but I do know he's worked hard to again improve his overall game. He's back at small forward and should benefit from the attention that must be given proven veterans like Sam Cassell and Cuttino Mobley."

    FANTASY OUTLOOK
    Corey Maggette will give fantasy owners two things this season: consistency and improvement. That might sound a bit pedestrian until you realize how high Maggette has continued to set the bar throughout his career. Much has been noted about his rise from an 8.4 ppg rookie average to last year's team-leading 22.2 ppg, but his steady play is also a roto gem. Only twice last season did he fail to score in double digits, but topped 30 or more points on twelve different occasions. He gets to the foul line on a regular basis and also has stepped up his rebounding over the last three seasons. He's a great pickup for any fantasy GM, but be warned that he most likely won't be around after the third round.
