Athletic, aggressive and skilled big men can be hard to come by these days, and the Clippers believe they have a star-in-the-making in Chris Kaman. Seven feet tall, 265lbs and ambidextrous, Kaman has steadily improved over brief NBA career and showed flashes of brilliance all throughout last season. You want firepower? Kaman averaged 17.0 ppg and 9.0 rpg over his final three games of 2004-05. You want toughness? Chris was back on the floor in just three days after undergoing an emergency appendectomy. You want a gamer? The big fella upped his season averages to 11.2 ppg and 7.5 rpg against Pacific Division rivals. "[Chris] has gotten better each year," Coach Dunleavy remarked this preseason. "He's got good size, he likes the contact, and all his skills are getting better. I've been pleased by his improvement." Yet Kaman isn't one to rest on any laurels. He arrived at Training Camp this fall with added muscle to his frame and wowed the coaching staff by leading the pack during big man sprint drills. There's no denying that he's ready for 2005-06 and we think he'll continue to progress as one of the NBA's bright young centers

Legendary broadcaster Ralph Lawler checks in with his preseason player predictions:
"He was dominant in the Vegas Summer League and he may be getting close to being able to dominate in the winter league. This is his third year and if he has a break-out season, watch out for these Clippers."
After a 9.1 ppg and 6.7 rpg sophomore season, look for Chris Kaman bust out as a legitimate double-double threat this season. Solid play from the center position can be hard to come by, and Kaman's 2004-05 field goal percentage (49.7%) and offensive rebounds per game (2.1) thrilled many fantasy GMs last year. We expect him to exceed those numbers in his third campaign and take advantage of a more spread-out Clippers attack to wreak havoc in the paint. If he can keep the fouls down, he should be a great pick up in any league.
